The album I reviewed, and sadly was not very impressed with was Taylor Swift’s album “1989”. Taylor was dominantly a country artist, but is more Pop and dance pop now. Taylor Swift’s first album was released in 2006, the most popular song on that album being “Our Song”. Taylor has been making music for over a decade now, which is pretty big for the young artists. She is usually known for her “heart break” songs. When I had first listened to this album, I was not a huge fan of it. I think Taylor tried way too hard to make her sound different, to a point where it just did not sound good. I personally first listened to Taylor Swift when she still considered herself a country singer. I’ll admit that I was never very interested in country music, but Taylor’s voice and way with lyrics were very enjoyable to listen to. However I have noticed as time passed, Taylor has strayed dramatically from her country tune, and is strictly pop now. Previous to the release of her most recent album”1989”, Taylor has had 6 other albums released. I would not say that this album has an overall theme, but it has some characteristics of love, mystery, and adventure. My favorite song from this album was “All You Had To Do Was Stay”. I liked this song the most because it was most simple sounding out of all of the songs on the album. Truthfully Taylor had a beautiful voice, and I feel like when she goes over board with the sound, it just takes away from that element. Taylor always does a very good job in expressing her feelings through her lyric choice,
“Hey, all you had to do was stay Had me in the palm of your hand Then, why'd you had to go and lock me out when I let you in Hey, now you say you want it Back now that it's just too late Well, it could've been easy All you had to do was stay” A song that I felt was too different for me was “Blank Space”. I felt like Blank Space like it had too many studio edits to it. I feel this way because my favorite Taylor was when She used to simply play with her guitar; it was beautiful and it felt more passionate. I suppose it can be assumed that I am not a big fan of new Taylor. Overall I would give this album a C rating, because it was not horrible or anything of that sort. I just personally feel like Taylor’s old tune was a lot more natural and sounded better compared to her now; and I think a lot of her older fans could relate and agree.

Pop artist Demi Lovato was first brought into the spot light through the children show Barney and Friends. The young celebrity landed her first real shot with acting, but music had just seemed to fit her more perfectly. Lucky for her, she got the opportunity to mixing the two together; Demi got her real “big break” starring on the Disney Channel film “Camp Rock” and “Camp Rock 2”, alongside the Jonas Brothers. While getting the chance to perusing her dream as a recording music artist Demi was also given a lead role in the Disney TV series “Sonny With A Chance”, where she played a small town girl from Wisconsin who was given the chance to be on a popular comedy show in Hollywood. Unfortunately the show died off eventually, but Demi always had her music. Demi’s music falls under the category of pop, pop rock, and pop punk. The album I have reviewed was her album “Here We Go Again”. Before the release of her album “Here We Go Again” in 2009, Demi had released her first album “Don’t Forget” in the year prior. A lot of Demi Lovato’s older songs on her older CDs had the similar theme of “girl power”. A lot of the songs involved bouncing back from a situation where she had been betrayed of treated wrong. However, a lot of Demi’s more recent songs are a bit different. She still has that theme of “power”, but the tone if very different. Her older songs were more Punk, and wild; it was like it reflected her as a young and reckless teen. Then as her music progressed, the tone in her songs re not so punk like, they are more pop. It is almost as if her change in melodies tells a story of how she was young a reckless in the past, but is now grown and level spirited.
My favorite song from this album was, coincidentally, “Here We Go Again”. This was my favorite song because it was a song about a boy who had broken her heart, but she –for some reason- continues to let him back into her life. My favorite part about this song is the way she executes it. You can feel the anger and frustration in her voice, especially when she says: “I throw all of your stuff away Then I clear you out of my head I tear you out of my heart And ignore all your messages” (Here We Go Again) Overall this album was constructed very well. There was an overall theme in the album, but it was not so overplayed. What I admire most about Demi Lovato, that I do not think anyone can take away from her is her passion. Her passion is so strong and so apparent that it is everywhere in her voice, her expression, and passion. If I were to grade this album, I would give it a grade of an A. I would give her album “Here We Go Again” an A rating because it is fun to listen to, and entertaining to listen to and watch. Adele is a British artist who was discovered on MySpace. Believe it or not, she had posted a demo online for an assignment, which ended landing her a record deal in 2006 with XL Recordings. Her music is a strong combination of Pop music, Soul music, Contemporary R&B, Folk music. Since her discovery back in 2006, Adele has been killing the charts. In Fact her recent album “25” is the fastest selling album in Canada. When I first listened to this album, I was taken back because this was the first Adele album I listened to, and I hadn’t realized how power full her voice was. She has a sort of Charisma that empowers her music, and it was so delightful to listen to. The album has a strong focus on love, past loves, and relationships. This album is some what similar to her previous albums, Adele has a slight tendency to sing soft melodies, with an occasional strong point. Although it is similar to past melodies, it is her signature tune, and it is with out a doubt working for her 100%. Some lyrics and songs that stuck out to amongst others were “When We Were Young” and “A Million Years Ago”. The lyrics are just beautiful, such as the this particular line from “A Million Years Ago” :
