Canadian singer Justin Bieber continues to flourish as an artist as is proven in his most current album “Purpose” (2015). Purpose marks as Justin’s eleventh studio released album. Justin Bieber has been a hit in the music industry for about eight years now, since the release of his first album in 2009. Justin was discovered by producer Scooter Braun, and with the help of Usher they released “My World”, his EP. From there on out, Justin has been lighting up the music world whether it’s about his melodic voice, or his scandalous personal life. Justin has released and featured in many types of Pop, Electric, and Hip-Hop tracks. He even released his very own Christmas album “Under the Mistletoe” (2011). With that being said, there is a small pattern in the type of music young Bieber has allowed himself to take part in. Which is what sets this album aside from all the others.
What sets this album aside from many others are many things. To start, the cover of the album is a close-up picture of Justin himself, not looking “at you” like all his other albums. This time Justin in pictured in black and white, shirtless, and looking down with his hands clasped as if he were praying. Looking at the cover, it gives you a feeling of repentance, or sorrow. Then you get to the meat of the album, the music itself. I believe all the tracks were very well written and produced. Every song was different, and had different melodies, which made listening to it intriguing. Most of all, I think this album was a very raw look into Justin’s inner thoughts. It is very apparent to anyone who Justin Bieber is, he is very much in the Hollywood spotlight at all times. I think this gives Justin’s audience a better idea of how he reflects upon the mistakes of his past. If you look into some of his previous albums, yes, he does have some heartfelt songs, but most are playful and fun. I think this is the first time Justin made an entire album, and intentionally dedicated it to represent the hard time he has had as a teen acclimating to fame and the problems that came with it. Overall theme of this album is clearly about redemption and self-discovery. Throughout the album Justin shares his personal thoughts, about the struggles he had encountered recently, and how he is coming up from a dark place. I think the lyrics are meaningful and have feelings behind them. I think this album marks a new beginning for Bieber, and he has much in store for the world and music industry.
